How Shared Ownership Works
Shared ownership allows you to buy a share of a property (between 10% and 75%) and pay rent on the remaining share.
You'll need to fund the share you are buying, usually via a mortgage, and you'll pay rent on the share you don't own at our standard rate of 2.75% per year.
You can buy more shares in the future (known as staircasing) up to 100%, if your lease allows. When you own 100% you will no longer pay rent.
Service charges may apply depending on the property. You can adjust this in the calculator if you know the estimated amount.
